I must confess that I am a bit of a Turner Classic Movie channel addict. Since there aren’t any 12 step programs in my area I try to keep it under control by concentrating on the costumes. Hence, it is not REALLY an addiction, more like research for my business.
In any event, we find this black crepe dinner dress evocative of 1940’s screen star glamour. From the obviously cuffed sleeves, detailed with rhinestone buttons, the collared neck, to the padded shoulders and nipped waist silhouette, this is a dress befitting Hollywood Royalty.
We especially love the pleated detail that sprouts from the waist down to the hem of the skirt on the left side. Let us not overlook the draping detail from the shoulders that follow down the open neckline where they are captured by the playful rhinestone buckled belt. All in all a grand example of times when women dressed to kill.
Condition: A bit of wear, slight sheen on left front pleats, adds to the charm, not glaringly noticeable. Very good especially for the age of this garment.
