I started collecting vintage when I was a young girl. Interestingly enough I rarely wore it. I would spend hours at a local vintage dive, Penny Pincher’s, sorting through piles of feathered and sequined dresses. It was a dream place for me, filled with incense, vinyl records, punk rockers, local rock stars and the usual misfits of fashion. Fast forward to meeting my husband, the Greek. He took me on junking trips to places that were, well, scary to say the least. Buildings filled with machinery, old furniture and lo and behold clothing. I got the bug! I slowly began to accumulate a vast collection of vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories. I never intended to sell anything. I just collected, sorted, bought and packed away. My collection took over our garage, my parents basement and several storage units. I started my online store and things took off. We moved about 1/10 of our collection to a small retail space in Waterford, Michigan. Once again I had no intentions of opening an actual store. It was basically a huge museum for me to view my collection and photograph my online merchandise. In September of 2009 I decided to open the doors. People thought we were nuts. An upscale vintage store in Waterford? Good luck, Princess! It’ll never fly. But it did. Woman traveled hours to visit us. Local magazines featured us, our clothing and our store. We were a “destination vintage store” in Michigan. In February 2011, we moved to an even larger space…again in: Waterford! Between an Adult Bookstore and Bowling Alley, for goodness sake! Again we were thought of as crazy, but things are wonderful! Our site showcases our more upscale pieces. The store is friendly to the “Michigan economy” prices are lower, but the selection is to die for. I love it when women walk in and gasp! I adore all the talented and creative people we meet (check out our TRIBE page to meet a few!) It’s a dream come true!
